Transport and the way we use it, has become an essential part of modern living. Most of us need to travel to work, to shop, to meet friends or
for holidays. Government land use policy over the last 10 years has comprehensively changed and improved how new developments are integrated into
their surroundings by reducing the need to travel, and by encouraging the availability of public transport so that journeys can be made by more
sustainable modes in preference to the private car.
Transport Planning therefore comprises much more than simply catering for continued growth in the use of the private car. The days of “predict and
provide” are well and truly over.
I have a wide range of experience in Transport Planning, including modelling comprehensive transport networks using both the VISSIM
and PARAMICS microsimulation suites, testing transport options designed not only to optimise vehicle movements but also to maximise priority
for buses or High Occupancy Vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists etc.
